How to play Letter Hive
Letter Hive gives you seven letters in a honeycomb. Make as many words as you can, and climb the ranks from Starter to Hive mind.
- Words must have at least 4 letters.
- Every word must use the centre letter.
- Letters can be used more than once in the same word.
- Every hive has at least one pangram, a word that uses all seven letters.
Four-letter words score 1 point. Longer words score a point per letter, and a pangram scores 7 extra. Reach Brilliant to beat the hive, then find every word to become a Hive mind.
The daily hive is the same for everyone and changes at midnight. Want more? Practice gives you a new hive whenever you like.
Quick tips for a bigger score
- Hunt for the pangram first. It’s worth the most points. Look for endings like -ING, -TION or -ED in the letters.
- Add endings to words you’ve found. If PLAY works, try PLAYED, PLAYER or REPLAY.
- Shuffle often. New arrangements make new words jump out.
- Try doubling letters. Letters can repeat, so words like LITTLE or BALLOON may be hiding.

Why wasn’t my word accepted?
Words must be 4 or more letters, use the centre letter, and be in our list of everyday English words. Names, abbreviations and very rare words aren’t included.
What is a pangram?
A word that uses all seven letters in the hive at least once. Every hive has at least one, and each scores 7 bonus points.
When does the daily hive change?
At midnight where you are. Your words for today are saved in your browser.
What are the ranks?
Starter, Warming up, Rolling, Good, Strong, Superb, Brilliant and Hive mind. Each is a share of the hive’s total points, and Hive mind means you found every word.
