How to play Word Grid

Word Grid gives you 16 letters in a 4×4 grid and three minutes. Find as many words as you can before time runs out.

  1. Link letters that touch. Each next letter must be next to the last one: left, right, up, down or diagonally.
  2. Don’t reuse a square in the same word.
  3. Words need 3 or more letters and must be everyday English words.
  4. Drag through the letters and lift your finger to enter the word. Or tap the letters and press Enter. On a keyboard, just type.

The clock starts with your first letter. Longer words score more: 3 or 4 letters score 1 point, 5 letters 2, 6 letters 3, 7 letters 5, and 8 or more score 11. When time is up, you’ll see every word you missed.

Quick tips for a higher score

  • Look for common endings. -ED, -ER, -ING and -EST turn short words into long ones.
  • Build on what you find. If you found RATE, look for RATED, CRATE and RATES.
  • Hunt for the long word. One 7-letter word beats five short ones.
  • Don’t stop at the first route. The same letters can often be linked in more than one way.
