How to play Hangman
Hangman is the classic guessing game. A word is hidden as a row of blanks, and you guess it one letter at a time.
- Guess a letter. Tap it on the keyboard below the word, or type it.
- Right letters appear in every place they occur in the word.
- Wrong letters add to the drawing. You can make six wrong guesses: head, body, two arms and two legs.
- Fill in the whole word before the drawing is complete to win.
In Solo, the computer picks a word and gives you its theme as a clue, like Fruit or Space. In 2 players, Player 1 types a secret word while Player 2 looks away, then Player 2 guesses.
Quick tips for guessing right
- Start with vowels. Nearly every word has an A, E, I, O or U.
- Then common consonants. R, S, T, L and N appear in lots of words.
- Use the clue. Think of words in the theme that fit the number of letters.
- Look at the shape. Once a few letters are in, endings like -ING, -ER or -TION often jump out.
