How to play Snakes and Ladders

Snakes and Ladders is one of the world’s oldest board games, first played in India centuries ago. It’s pure luck, which makes it perfect for all ages.

  1. Everyone starts on square 1.
  2. Roll the die and move your counter forward that many squares, following the numbers.
  3. Ladders lift you up. Land on the bottom of a ladder and climb to the top.
  4. Snakes slide you down. Land on a snake’s head and slide down to its tail.
  5. Roll a 6 and roll again.
  6. Land exactly on 100 to win. If your roll takes you past 100, you bounce back by the extra squares.

Play against one, two or three computer players, or with up to four friends on one device.

A game of chance

There are no decisions in Snakes and Ladders: every move is decided by the die. That’s what makes it a great game for young children learning to count and take turns, and why anyone can win.
