Reversi flipping: lines and two directions
In Reversi one disc can flip a whole line, and lines in several directions at once. Practise finding the moves that flip the most. How Reversi works · lesson 2 of 3.
The lesson in words
Every disc in the trapped line flips, however long the line is.
Try it: Flip all three black discs in the row at once.
A single move can trap lines in several directions: across, up and down, and diagonally. All of them flip.
Try it: Find the move that flips four discs, in two directions.
Look along all eight directions from the square you play. Next: passing and how the game ends.
Questions
Do discs flip if they’re trapped by a chain reaction, after the first flips?
No. Only the lines between your new disc and your other discs flip. There’s no chain reaction.
