Backgammon moves: using the dice
How to move in Backgammon: each die moves one checker that many points, the two dice can move one checker or two, and doubles move four times. How Backgammon works · lesson 2 of 4.
The lesson in words
On your turn you roll two dice. Each die is a separate move: one checker moves the number on one die, and one checker (the same or another) moves the number on the other.
To move, tap a checker, then tap the point it should go to. The bright outlines show where you can go.
You rolled 6 and 5.
Try it: Play your 6 and your 5. Any legal move is fine.
Rolling a double is special: you play the number four times.
Try it: You rolled double 2. Make four moves of 2.
Each die is its own move, and doubles count twice. Next: points you can’t land on.
